About
Allison Allison practically grew up on stage. She started performing at a young age in musical theater and admittedly still belts out show tunes when nobody is around. Through these experiences she nurtured a dynamic stage presence that still exists today, up at the mic, guitar in hand, sharing the stage with her band. Eventually, Allison's stand out vocal ability landed her some great roles in productions that toured the country. Everything from kids shows and full staged musicals to working as a showgirl on a cruise ship (headpieces, feathers and all!). Upon returning home, she was contracted for a few lengthy stints as a singer on NYC's infamous 'Restaurant Row' before she was lured by the rock n' roll spirit to devote all of her time and energy to her own music. Allison's powerfully distinct vocal style has set her apart from other female singers on the market. As a result, she has had the opportunity to work as a jingle and session singer for NYC songwriters - both up and coming, and established writers such as Broadway's Cy Coleman and Richie Sambora of Bon Jovi. Neither of those songs ever made an album cut as of yet, but if you happen to be at the Dollar Derby in South Florida, listen for Allison's voice whenever they play their jingle!! During the past couple of years, Allison has emerged on her own as a gifted songwriter. Compared to influences such as Pat Benatar, Melissa Etheridge and more recently, Sheryl Crow - Allison's performances are the kind that run through your subconscious long after you experience them. What started out as a girl alone onstage with her guitar has since evolved and completely changed the vibe of her songwriting. The transition from solo artist to full-fledged band was inevitable. Joining forces with 'the boys' has allowed Allison to create an even more rock driven sound for her band's attention grabbing live shows. Recently, AC was recognized by the Songwriters Hall of Fame and Billboard magazine as one of the nine best new songwriters in NYC at their 50th Anniversary, New Writers Showcase. She was also selected by UMO (Underground Music Organization) to be featured on their "Best NYC Singer/Songwriters, Volume 1" CD. An active member of GoGirls and Indiegrrl, Allison has quickly become one of the more recognized female rock performers on the indie scene, playing to enthusiastic crowds around the Northeast region. Allison appears on Discovergirls' new CD for the benefit of the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Click on the Catalyst 18 banner to learn more about the hottest album of 2006!
