About
Janet Janet is a guitarist, singer and songwriter who writes and performs a variety of music from tightly packaged pop/rock to intimate solo acoustic performances. Her musicianship is concise and soulful, which provides a winning combination from both studio recordings and live performances. Janet tours endlessly and, most recently, has been performing with Michelle Shocked throughout the U.S., and with Meredith Brooks on the 2002 Melissa Etheridge tour. In addition, Janet's song, "Say It One More Time," was featured on the WB's "Felicity." Her latest release, "Out From Under," displays Janet's spirited vocals, honest lyrics and guitarists' guitarist" licks. On her first CD, you find that "Open the Door," does just as it says -opening many doors with rhythmic and witty songs like "Formosa Cafe," which create vivid images of the popular landmark establishment. This song was also featured on the soundtrack for the film, "Free Enterprise." Energetic and clever reminiscing with "I Swore" and the Pop/Funk sound of "Broken," both co-written with Maia Sharp, lets the listener hear both musicianship and real life come together in a radio-friendly and memorable way. Produced by Mark Karan (Rat Dog, Sophie B. Hawkins and The Rembrandts) for Little Sister Records, this release has seen a wonderful response from radio, press and the public. Janet is currently recording her next release. Of special note, Janet performed with Lindsey Buckingham (Fleetwood Mac) as a band member for tour (both as headliner and as support with Tina Turner) and in the studio. In addition, Janet has performed and recorded with artists Garrison Starr and Maia Sharp (who has recorded some of Janet's songs). Janet was featured in February 2000 by "FleetwoodMac.Net" online. She has co-writing credits with Heart's Ann and Nancy Wilson and Sue Ennis. She has also performed with artists like Dweezil Zappa, Mike Kenneally, and more. Her music has also been featured on radio stations around the U.S. and Canada; recently as "Artist of The Week" on "The Women's Independent Music Show" as well as a featured artist in "The Women of MP3.com" online. She has been the support act, for Meredith Brooks, Colin Hay (Men At Work), Loudon Wainwright III, The Smithereens, Heart's Ann & Nancy Wilson, Catie Curtis & many others, and has performed at EAT'M, NAMM Shows, including touring from Seattle to Boston and Georgia to California and Canada. Her loyal following makes their presence known at her shows and the excitement creates a vibe of pure enthusiasm.
