About
Karen
Fresh from the Cyndi
Lauper tour with Jennifer Marks, Pop Piano Singer and
Songwriter Karen Jacobsen has arrived and is ready to take center stage.
On
September 23, 2004, in front of a sold out crowd at NYC¹s The Duplex,
Karen previewed songs from her first full in studio production, Here In
My
Heart, which will be officially released in January.
A collection of melody-driven songs with Karen's distinctively passionate
vocals, the pop production of Here In My Heart proudly maintains the
integrity of the Singer/Songwriter. Mixed by the in-demand Andy Zulla
(Jessica Simpson/Ricky Martin/Backstreet Boys), and with tracks Produced
by
Andy, Julian Harris (Diana King/Maria Christensen) and Karen, guest
musicians include Shawn Pelton (Sheryl Crow, SNL), Ben Butler (Rod Stewart,
Dar Williams), Richard Hammond (Jonatha Brooke), String Arranger Max Surla
(The Corrs), Jeff Cohen and UrbanMuse artists Jenny Bruce and Jennifer
Marks.
2004 has been a milestone
year for this Aussie born and New York based
artist. Karen has performed the Star Spangled Banner at Dodger Stadium,
Fenway Park and Madison Square Garden, placing runner up in the Kauai
Music
Festival, and appearing on the main stage at Los Angeles, Jersey City
&
Ottawa Pride Festivals. In November, she will sing the anthem at a New
York Jets game to a capacity crowd of 76 000 at Giants Stadium. Karen
has
been honored with many awards including the Songwriters Hall of Fame's
Abe
Olman Award for Excellence in Songwriting and in the Billboard, John Lennon,
Unisong and USA Song Contests. Sharing the stage with Norah Jones, Uncle
Kracker and Jars of Clay, Karen made her U.S. Network Television Debut
on
the NBC-TV Special Dare To Dream, filmed at Mohegan Sun Arena.
Originally from Mackay (near Australia's Great Barrier Reef), Karen
established her career in Sydney performing regularly on national television
shows including Good Morning Australia and touring to Malaysia and Thailand.
Leaving Australia with only one suitcase, she arrived in Manhattan to
carve
her own niche, playing regularly at The Duplex, and touring throughout
the
U.S. performing at clubs, colleges and house concerts. Since that time,
Karen has released two acoustic piano and vocal records, As I Am and Being
Brave; her song, Supposed To Say, was included on the WB's Dawson's Creek
DVD;
and the Australian Consulate in New York City hosted an event in her honor
-
the Consul-General himself introducing Karen to the invitation only crowd.
With the arrival of Here In My Heart, Karen will be performing at release
shows in New York, London, Los Angeles and Sydney, and touring the U.S.
in
the spring of 2005. Tracks from the new record have already been included
on
the GoGirlsMusic Compilation CD as well as the Songwriters Hall of Fame
New
Writers Showcase Compilation.
