About Martita

Since the first time Martita appeared in front of a camera at age 12 at the "Festival de Estrellas" contest, she knew that she would be an entertainer. Today, ten years later, Martita has already performed in front of thousands of people, recorded her debut album, Angelical, and filmed her first feature film, "Love for Rent."

There is no doubt that the Guatemalan born actress/singer is a rising star that shines with her own light. Shortly after winning the singing contest "Juventud 99" in Guatemala, Martita
perfected her singing techniques at the Academy of Modern Music in Costa Rica, where she worked with Gourgen Mkrtitchen, graduate of the world famous Russian Conservatory. Appearances as a guest host on the Costa Rican television show "Sábado Feliz" in 2001 and further studies in guitar, piano and double bass, set great expectations for Martita´s future career steps.

In 2002, following an endorsement contract with Pepsi, the artist appeared in front of a U.S. audience for the first time, performing at The Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas for the The Rose Foundation's First Annual Celebrity Gala next to Gian Marco, Miami Sound Machine and Cirque du Soleil. Today, Martita has shaped herself as one of the most promising Latin entertainers to conquer the U.S. market. Her debut album, Angelical, was presented to audiences in Univision’s TV morning show “Despierta América” on June 2004. The album features a wide variety of styles, from Latin pop to soulful ballads and rousing beats and it
includes a total of fourteen songs, six of which were written by Martita.

In addition to recording her first album, Martita has also completed the shooting of her first video for "Reasons," in both English and Spanish versions. "Martita is a very versatile artist who not only sings and composes in different languages, but also manages to capture feelings and emotions in each line, each verse," comments Miguel Angel Villagran "Malin," producer of Angelical. Joining Malin in the production of the album is sound engineer and Grammy Award winner Alfredo Matheus. On his experience during the production of this album, Matheus adds "As an experienced engineer and producer is always refreshing to find a voice like Martita's. Not only does she have a beautiful tone, but she also keeps an excellent
attitude towards the production at all times. Martita is an excellent singer. I honestly
think she has all the ingredients for success." The album was mixed by renowned
engineer and Grammy Award winner Gustavo Celis, who was also part of the winning
team for Best Sound in the Oscar Awards for the movie “Chicago.”

To add to her prolific artistic career, Martita just finished filming her first feature
film "Love for Rent" under the direction of Shane Edelman and alongside a stellar cast
that includes Colombian actress Angie Cepeda. The film is a production of Terence
Michael and MiamiLA Entertainment, a superb company that creates and produces films, music, original content for television, music videos and DVDs.
