Niki
Niki Haris, born
in Benton Harbor, Michigan, has her roots firlmy planted in music and
entertainment. Her father is the late Jazz pianist Gene Harris and her
mother is a former Miss Benton Harbor and Miss NAACP. Niki attended college
in Southern California, where she pursued her singing career in amusement
parks and clubs. She went on to work with a multitude of different artists
such as David Sanborn, Patrice Rushen, Michael Sembello, Wilton Felder
of the Jazz Crusaders, The Righteous Brothers, Julian Lennon, Mick Jagger,
Anita Baker, Snap, Enrique Iglesias, Withney Houston and Madonna, and
many others.
Thoughout Niki's career, she has focused on singing and dancing, acting
and choreographing are also playing a part in her career. Niki appeared
on Madonna's Truth Or Dare, Heat, HBO special Sandra After Dark and helped
stage scenes for Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct as well as choreographing
for the television series Melrose Place and the MTV Awards for Madonna
(working with her since the Who's That Girl Tour in 1987).
Niki's vocal film work has been featured on the soundtracks of Whoopi
Goldberg's "Corrina Corrina," Dream Works "The Big Green,"
"Coyote Ugly" with Leann Rimes, and Disney's "Anastasia."
Her small screen work includes multiple television themes as well as co-writing
and performing two songs for the Fox series "Dark Angel." While
recording and touring with Madonna in the last sixteen years, Niki has
been touring regularly with her Jazz Band, Niki Haris & Friends (Karen
Hammack on piano, Andrew Cleyndert on Bass and Martin Drew on Drums).
Also, Niki has been promoting her own Dance CD and partnering with Junior
Vasquez in a remix of her International dance smash, "Dance Floor."
Niki now has five CD's available through her own Label, Niki Music Inc.,
which include jazz, pop, gospel and dance recordings.
